1, 2, 3, 4, I Declare a Debt Ceiling War!

Why is there so much juicy news to discuss when I'm supposed to be on vacation?? The hubs and I happened to be touring CNN today, when news of the latest developments in the ongoing debt-limit discussion came across the ticker. I just couldn't let this topic go.*

“He shoved back and said ‘I’ll see you tomorrow’ and walked out,” House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) told reporters in the Capitol after the meeting . . . Democratic sources dispute Cantor’s version of Obama’s walk out, but all sides agree that the two had a blow up. The sources described Obama as “impassioned” but said he didn’t exactly storm out of the room . . . On exiting the room, Obama said that “this confirms the totality of what the American people already believe” about Washington, according to a Democratic official familiar with the negotiations, and that officials are “too focused on positioning and political posturing” to make difficult choices.**

Freaking. Brilliant. Isn't that what I've been saying since the overly dramatic budget discussions, earlier this year? I'm so glad that POTUS agrees with me. Congress needs to GET. IT. TOGETHER. Last I checked, they are elected officials, and should be doing everything in their power to represent the best interests of the American people. Listen, I'm confident that nobody wants our national debt to just keep increasing with no end in sight . . . but what makes this time different than the FIVE times the debt ceiling was raised during the most recent Bush Administration (to the tune of almost a whopping $4 trillion)?? I'm just curious, because the four Republicans currently holding Congressional leadership positions, Speaker John Boehner, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, and Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl, each voted "yea" at least 4 times each, to approve Bush's requests (only Kyl voted "nay" on the first request; the others voted "yea" all five times).*** Did I mention that those votes of approval did NOT accompany any demands for drastic spending cuts? Hmmm . . . one of these things is not like the other.

So again, what is different now? Could it be . . . that Obama is President (the horror!), and the GOP would rather see America fall into perpetual recession-laden pieces before voting to support anything he proposes? Does it have anything to do with ridiculous political agendas and feuds that are huge roadblocks to any sort of progress, whatsoever? I call bullshit. During the Bush Administration, the GOP seemed to clearly understand that sometimes you have to spend money to make money; they acknowledged that the debt ceiling had to be raised in order for the American economy to stay on track. Unfortunately, something seems to have happened to their good sense since then, because now all they seem to be doing is dicking around and playing political games (i.e., pissing contests). Hey, no big deal, right? So what if a few people don't get their social security checks? As long as the GOP can prove their point, screw America!**** (Wait, what is their point, again?)

It seems to me like everybody on Capitol Hill has lost their damn minds with the 2012 election looming. We (the common folks that nobody seems to give a shit about anymore) all know that nothing productive gets done around election time, because everyone is too busy climbing up on their soapboxes, and mudslinging/name-calling/personally trashing their political opponents foes, but this is just ridiculous. Debt ceiling, shmet shmeiling. Just vote to raise it, already. Real talk -- it's not like we're going to pay it back anytime soon, right? So who gives a crap? Good ol' W promised to pay off the debt in ten years (Did he miss the memo that presidential terms are only 4 years, and presidents can only serve two terms? Last time I checked, 4 x 2 = 8 . . . oh, wait. Multiplication is kind of difficult. Nevermind.), but everybody knew he was full of it. Cantor needs to just suck it up, quit cock blocking, and get on board. Because this shit is ridiculous. You hear me? Ri-dickaluss.

My feelings can best be summed up by the following quote from a democratic aide, "This is just more juvenile behavior from [Cantor] and Boehner needs to rein him in, and let the grown-ups get to work."

Get over yourselves and get 'er done, folks. The American people (remember us?) are counting on you (because we have no choice). DO THE RIGHT THING.
Thanks,
-Management

*Don't you worry your pretty little heads; I haven't forgotten about the Bachmann shrew. Her day is coming soon. I can't let that topic go, either. Because she's a racist . . . and a homophobe . . . and we don't tolerate her kind 'round here.

Caylee's Law

Okay, so I promised not to get all wrapped up in politics, or cram my political agenda/views down your throat . . . but this is something I feel really strongly about, and what better means with which to share it but my own humble little blog?

Guilty of murder or not, Casey Anthony waited THIRTY-ONE DAYS before reporting her 2 year-old daughter Caylee missing. I would imagine that any logical adult would agree with me that this offense alone should be considered a crime. The verdict is in, and it is not my place to continue to harp on whether or not I think Casey is guilty of murder; what's done is done. That said, I think that Caylee's Law is the real way to ensure that poor little Caylee Anthony will have some justice.

It's terrible, but things like this happen too often in our country. Children fall victim to people who, as adults, should be protecting their best interests. Because of the media frenzy that has surrounded the Casey Anthony trial, Caylee Anthony has become the posterchild for missing children everywhere. Caylee's Law would make it a felony for for parents not to report missing children. I think this law should be a no-brainer. Why would any parent not want to report a missing child? If a child is missing, a parent should report that fact as soon as possible to the authorities, so action can be taken as soon as possible. The sooner a child is reported missing, the greater their chances are for survival.

I could go on and on for days about how strongly I feel about this law, but at the end of day, the point is . . . sign it. As adults, we are responsible for the younger generations. We need to step up and accept this responsibility, and do everything within our power to make sure that our nation's youth survives and fluorishes. They are our future, we need to look out for them. Period.

So please, I beg of you. Take a minute out of your day to sign the Caylee's Law petition. Do your part. I've done mine, and I already feel like I'm helping to make a difference. I've already received emails from my State Representatives, and have had the chance to express my personal feelings on the issue. Caylee may not have gotten justice for her death, but she's getting justice for children everywhere. I'm helping. You should help, too -- it's a good feeling.

Born This Way

One small step for (wo)man . . . one giant step for mankind.

Huzzah! The New York Assembly voted 80-63 to pass a bill legalizing gay marriage yesterday! The bill is now in the hands of the Senate, where 31 senators have gone on record as supporters; 32 approval votes are needed for passage. Fingers crossed they'll realize that the issue isn't about gay marriage; it's just about marriage. In a country that touts a system of equal rights, we have a history of making said rights a matter of subjectivity and convenience - not for the masses, but really more for the elite group of law-making individuals that has the ability to affect our lives with the simple push of a button. The legislative session is due to end next week, so this should come to some sort of rapid resolution. Let's hope New York climbs aboard the gay marriage train. Get with the program, New York! After all, marriage equality is the new black.

Can't Get Enough Weiner!

Hahaha! At the sake of sounding redundant, I would like to revisit Weinergate. Humor me. This is my newest obsession (besides Casey Anthony, but that's a whole 'nother side of deviance). I have been poring over the New York Post, getting all of the latest and greatest dirt on the big weiner, Weiner...and I do it all for you. I found an amazing wealth of hilarity and decided I MUST share.*

I have to say - I am enamored with the thoroughness of the reporting on the NY Post - this is totally going to be my go-to source for all the good juice.  Basically, the NY Post is launching a full-on attack on Weiner and his indiscretions. It's pretty great; I'll give you the highlights. Let's begin with who Weiner compares himself to:

He told her he was a "caped crusader . . . looking for my sidekick."
"[I'm] dying of boredom over here. Plus my tights really itch, I need a distraction," the hot, bothered -- and very married -- Rep. Anthony Weiner shot off to sexy Vegas blackjack dealer Lisa Weiss in one of more than lewd 220 sexts and Facebook messages between the revved-up pair since Aug. 13.

Hmmm...first off, I'm a little confused as to his reasoning for comparing himself to Batman. That's just weird. Batman saves people's lives - he doesn't badger them with his perversity. Maybe it wasn't specifically Batman, maybe he just likes to wear capes and stuff and fancies himself some sort of superhero. I think that if he had a costume, it would look something like this:**

Okay and I don't know about you . . . but I'm curious as to why his tights itch. Was that supposed to be sexy? That sounds more like a warning, to me. Your tights itch? That's a personal problem that you might want to get checked out. While you're at it, lose my number. I don't want any parts of your itchy crotch. Thanks.

Now let's move on to what this weiner is doing to earn your tax dollars:

"He admitted to "jerking off" to her Facebook photos, said Weiss, 40, a former Democratic Party worker...Weiss told the Web site that most of the duo's sexed-up exchanges occurred during his work hours -- and that Weiner used his office phone for at least some of them. She said they fired back and forth 69 messages during just one sleazy exchange.

Gosh. I sure am glad I pay my taxes. I mean, we all dick around at work sometimes, but this takes gives that phrase a whole new meaning. With all this sexting going on, how did he have time to do anything pertinent to his job as a House Representative? I feel bad for his constituents.

Moving on, how about him offering PR advice to one of his little ladies (pun intended; this chick is an undergrad...and obviously not a lady) No, really.

As the crotch-shot scandal exploded around him, panicking Rep. Anthony Weiner coached a porn star pal to lie about their sexually-charged online relationship, even offering professional PR advice, it was reported Tuesday..."Do you need to talk to a professional PR type person to give u advice?," Weiner emailed Lee on June 2, according to the gossip website TMZ.com. "I can have someone on my team call. [Yeah, my team is doing great. Ugh]."

Um...I feel like he should have listened to his own advice. I'm pretty sure the first basic rules of PR when addressing a catastrophe of epic proportions and attempting to do damage control are:
  1. Address/admit to the problem.
  2. Apologize profusely.
  3. Explain what you will do to fix it or make it better.
  4. End of conversation.
None of this crying and moaning and personal pouty pity party in front of the nation. Oh, poor you. Your PR guys botched the job, eh? You feel like shit (because you got caught) but don't plan to resign, huh? We'll see how that works out for you.

Next, let's discuss what was said. Here's a gander at a FB message exchange.

Talking Dirty
March 16 Facebook message exchange with middle-aged Nevada Democratic volunteer Lisa Weiss:
WEINER: ridiculous bulge in my shorts now. wanna see?
WEISS: Yea! can u send a pic? I want to sit on your c- -k so bad right now.
WEINER: jeez, im rushing. let me take a quick pic
WEISS: awesome . . . how do I get it? right on here?
WEISS: how r u gonna go to work with a raging hard on?
WEINER: it wont go away. and now im taking pics of it, making me harder still
WEISS: so hot! u are making me wet again.
WEINER: jeez, i have to go. ill hit you later
WEINER: off to the shower. this thing is bobbing up and down
WEISS: aahhh . . . wish I was in the shower with you to help
WEINER: you give good head?
WEISS: Ive been told really good . . . and i love doing it
WEINER: wow a jewish girl who sucks [bleep]. this thing is ready to do damage

...yeah. These messages are real. Real ridiculous, that is. Bahahaha! "This thing is ready to do damage." This thing? What thing do you speak of? Your weiner, or this conversation? What an idiot. He didn't learn from Arnold or Tiger? Women don't keep secrets well. At all. You can pretty much guarantee that any woman is going to tell at least one other person. I guess in situations like this, you just have to cross your fingers and pray that the one person she does tell is not a member of the news media.

...and now,  for the Grand Weiner Finale...(drumroll please)...LET'S SEE THAT INFAMOUS CROTCH SHOT!

Haha! Talk about the battle of the bulge. I guess I'm not as impressed as Breitbart was, so I'll refrain from comment. However, this picture again begs the questions - how could Breitbart confirm that the picture was indeed of Weiner? I mean, it's obviously a picture of a weiner, but how do we know it was Weiner's weiner? Inquiring minds would like to know.

In closing, Representative Weiner, I salute you. I like that you're an equal opportunity pervert and unlike Tiger, there was a bit of diversity within your bevy of bitches. That aside, I'm pretty sure you're going to go down in the books as the biggest weiner in history. Good for you! Now go put your cape on and start saving some people; you caped crusader, you. *wink wink*

Spotted! Weiner's Weiner*

Forgive me for neglecting you, but it's been a busy three days. I won't bore you with the minutia, I'll just jump right in.

Let's talk about Weinergate, shall we?

Representative Anthony Weiner (D-NY) retracted his initial claim that his Twitter account had been hacked and admitted this afternoon that he sent a lewd picture to a young woman as claimed. Interestingly, I'm not surprised. Additionally, he admitted that this was not the first time (and sadly, probably not the last) that he has done so, AND he admitted to explicit conversations with six women over the past three years (overshare?). "A" for sticktuitiveness, though...amidst all of the name-calling and overall general disdain, Weiner says he is embarrassed, but does not plan to retire. Read the article in its entirety here (because Fox News is so reliable, but whatever).

I guess Weiner just couldn't keep his weiner to himself. My favorite part of this article is where [BigGovernment.com publisher] Andrew Breitbart confirmed that the photos appeared to be Weiner, stating, "He's in very good shape." PAUSE. Was that envy I detected, or does somebody want himself some Weiner?? Things that make you go "hmmm..."

I hate to laugh at someone else's misfortune (who am I kidding?), but this is hilarious. I guess his advisors told him to take the "all or nothing" approach, eh? Next he'll be confessing to a college "phase" he went through where he dabbled in erotic asphyxiation and beastiality. Sheesh. What is going on with the politicians in New York?! First the Spitzer prostitution ring scandal, and now this? Those guys are obviously thinkin' with the wrong heads in the Big Apple. Additionally, am I the only person that finds irony in both of these offenders' names? Weiner? Spitzer? ...and why does it always have to be the young girls? Do you think that people would be more willing to overlook and forgive indiscretions if perhaps the women involved were of drinking age (okay, slight overexaggeration)? I think it would help a little bit...but just a little. The icing on the cake for me was during the press conference, with one reporter shouting repeatedly, "She was young enough to be your daughter!!" Hahaha consider yourself judged, ya weiner.

I think it's safe to say that Weiner is now wishing he'd kept his weiner to himself. Luckily for him, his wife of one year (sad, but true), is an aide in Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's office. Maybe Weiner will get lucky and she'll seek relationship advice from Hillary. We all know where she tends to stand on matters of adultery, right?

I'll leave you with a Weiner quote I found on Wikipedia. You know how people play that game where you read your fortune aloud and add "in bed" after it? Let's play that game with this quote, and swap out all of the "it"s with the phrase "my weiner"...

"I push people pretty hard [with my weiner]... I have nothing but love for people who endured it my weiner, even if they endured it my weiner for a short period of time."

Enough said.

*Let me apologize [in advance] for my excessive use of weiners the word weiner. It just couldn't be helped.

Extreme Grouponing

Okay - I'm just going to go ahead and jump right into today's post. This one is at the suggestion of one of my friends who also happens to be a Princess. In lieu of Royal Wedding coverage (which I refuse to do - surely you all got your fix from somewhere by now...although I would like to do a fashion police post on all of the finery...maybe tomorrow), I thought I would go ahead and humor her. Plus, it's pretty interesting.

Click here for some light reading...

For those of you who hate reading and/or following instructions, here's the a brief excerpt that pretty much summarizes the article in a nutshell.

"[Groupon's] website said late Thursday that it will pull its ads from the website of Donald Trump's television show 'The Apprentice' to distance itself from the 'political criticism' swirling around Trump and his presidential ambitions...enough consumers have contacted us to warrant ensuring that we don't place ads on the 'Apprentice' homepage in the future...It's the same reason we don't run deals on guns or abortion ... this isn't a political statement, it's avoiding intentionally upsetting a segment of our customers."

I have mixed emotions about this announcement.

First, can I say - I'm so glad that [most] Americans have a social conscience and refuse to validate The Douchebag Donald's ridiculous ranting and raving. The people have spoken! Good for you, America. Way to stick it to the man.

That said, I am a little confused over the statement that Groupon released. It's a little ridiculous, no? The same reason they don't "run deals on guns or abortion"?? Really?! Hmmmm...so, if they didn't think that a "segment of [their] customers" would be upset, Groupon would, indeed, offer delectable discounts on abortions (only in the 1st and 2nd trimesters; sheesh, they're not murderers) and AK-47's? I can just see the deals of the day now...

50% off of IUDs at your local county clinic!

Buy one automatic machine gun, get 3 magazines of bullets free! (must be 18+ years of age)

BOGO! Buy one abortion at regular price and get the second for FREE! (some exclusions may apply)

Not only was that a ridiculous statement, but it's incongruous; apples and oranges, people. Methinks the PR Department at Groupon needs to learn how to write a press release. It's not like they were offering deals on hotel stays at the various Trump hotels. They were paying for commercial time. So, in all actuality, it's more like how they don't run ads in monthly NRA publications, or at the local Planned Parenthoods. Right? I'm gonna go ahead and put it all out there: if that's the best official statement you could come up with to make youself seem ambivalent to this recent wave of political guerilla warfare bullshit diversion tactics <pregnant pause - if only Groupon had one of those abortion discounts right about now> you should probably expect that people are going to see right through that smoke screen.

C'mon, Groupon. You don't have to lie. Your entire staff probably consists of Generation X and Y'ers who all vote the Dem ticket. You know you're siding with Obama. It's ok; I am, too. Your secret's safe with me.

Oh Yeah?? At Least He Has His Own Hair. Eat That.

Uh. Canwejusttalkaboutdonaldtrumpforaminute?

C'mon! Look at the difference between the two. Look at the
head of hair on our Head of State! So lustrous and thick.
You mad about that too, Donald? You should be.
You look ridickaluss.*
I know, I know. I said very early on that I wouldn't talk too much about politics and it seems a little bit like it's all I've been talking about lately. But this new development in the apparent war against Obama really has my panties in a bunch. I guess now that The Donald is vying for a Republican nom, he feels it's an appropriate time to start making illegitimate accusations about the President?

Does ANYONE really care about Obama's GPA in high school? I know I don't. I can think of several people who didn't do well in high school, but did very well in college (and vice versa). I'm pretty sure Obama refusing to release his grades is inconsequential. I know I have no desire for people to see my college transcripts; and believe me, I'm no dummy. (I just partied a lot, okay? Don't judge me! And for the record, I now have a 4.0. Redeemed!) That shit is soooo inconsequential; people are not defined by their GPAs. I think it is incredibly transparent that Trump is just looking for some BS to hyperfocus on and direct attention away from the fact that we probably shouldn't entrust the welfare of our nation to someone whose corporation has filed for bankruptcy - what was it, three times? Right. He's obviously the best person to reduce our national debt. He'll just write it all off as a loss and start from scratch! It works like that, right? (Sorry, China. You'll probably never get your money if he's in charge.)**

Furthermore, I'm confident that ivy league schools don't just go around accepting students all willy nilly. I guarantee you, if Obama got in, it was no mistake. He didn't receive an acceptance letter by oversight. If your so-called friends (which I'm "thinking about and looking into" myself, because I find it hard to believe that he has very many friends) have such amazing sons with such academic excellence (and the proper breeding, no doubt) and they didn't get in...there's probably a reason. Seeing as to how birds of a feather typically fly together, I'm going to put it all out there and venture to say that maybe it's because they're douchebags. Just a thought. Additionally, since we're apparently questioning our presidents' educational downfalls - perhaps someone should have questioned the illustrious W's history. Can we see his transcripts and his high school GPA? I've often wondered how he was accepted into Harvard AND Yale. Oh, wait. George. W. Bush! Got it. I would imagine it's very lucky to have a spotless career in academia when your family is at the top of the socioeconomic food chain. No? 'Cause I'm pretty sure nepotism starts at the top. Perhaps Mister Trump missed the memo that just because you're born into wealth, doesn't make you smart; nor does it entitle you to the Presidency. Guess what, DT - poor people are smart sometimes, too. I know it's hard to believe [for people like you]; but it's true.

I think The Douchebag Donald should just get over Obama and focus on something worthwhile. Like...I dunno...Libya? Egypt? Japan? Shit, the Royal Wedding?! I'm certain that I would rather listen to Kate Middleton wax poetic about the color of her wedding dress or what it means to have Diana's ginormous engagement ring on her finger than to listen to DT talk shit about Obama - or anything else, for that matter. Period.

Hey, Donald...you're fired.

After the Club, It's the After Party and After the Party, It's the Hotel Lobby and After the Belve, Then It's Prob'ly Cris' and After the Original, It's Probably This: SIESTA!

Okay, so I know I'm a little late on this. Hopefully you'll forgive me, since I was working on that godforsaken paper (which I finished, incidentally). Moving right along...

Hahahahahaha! I love it. Look at him! He looks so peaceful. I just think it's soooo funny that everyone is making such a big deal about this whole "napping during the budget speech" situation. Who cares? The man is almost 70; maybe he just needed a little snooze. If you're so concerned about him nodding off for less than a minute...I bet you're glad McCain wasn't elected, eh? At his age, naps have got to be almost mandatory. No? Not to mention, Obama is certainly a dynamic speaker, but the topic of the budget is pretty much whatever the polar opposite of dynamic would be.
So, what do you think? Do you think he was sleeping, or in deep thought? I honestly think it was more along the deep thought route. He probably just closed his eyes out of sheer frustration that we're even still discussing the stupid stinking budget. I know I have. Several times.

Here's what I don't think: I don't think that grand ol' Mike Huckabee (whom you can always depend on for an intelligent sound byte...that's sarcasm, for those of you who haven't picked up on my tones yet) knows what he's talking about (besides the disingenuous part...I'm confident that Huck (which rhymes with _____) is very familiar with disingenuity):

"He was praying that nobody will find out just how disingenuous they are about actually cutting the expenses and hoping and praying that the American people don’t catch on to the games that they’re trying to hoist upon us," Huckabee told the media outlet.

...or maybe he was praying that all of the ridiculous budget cuts that the GOP wanted wouldn't end up totally F'ing America in the A. Just a thought.

I'm Taking My Ball and I'm Going Home.

Good morning! Sorry I neglected you over the weekend, but I was super busy doing a whole lot of nothing. No, really. I had every intention of starting my 15 page paper that’s due in 3 days…but I got so preoccupied with being unproductive, that it seemed to slip my mind. Anyway, did you think I’d be able to let this whole “government shut down” thing go without adding my 99 cents? I know people typically say 2 cents…but I happen to think my opinion is more valuable than that. I mean, what can you buy for two cents? Nothing, that’s what.

Moving on…I typically try to avoid talking politics with people, because I find it's rather pointless. Before you overreact, let me explain. In my opinion, a personal political standpoint is a lot like sex - you should never force it on anyone. Too often, people get into long, drawn-out conversations that lead to nothing but frustration. I have no interest in debating politics with anyone, because I am intelligent enough to realize that I'm not going to be able to change anyone's mind about politics, or make them see my way. It is what it is.

That said; let me return to my point. Ah, yes. The government shut down.

Source: Me, Myself and I (created by me, for me)

When did legislation become such a pissing contest? It seems as though the two parties are so intent on not agreeing with each other about anything, that it clearly has slipped their minds that they are elected officials, and the people's interests (not their own) should be the highest priority.

5 Ways Being a Republican in the US Congress These Days is Like Being a Spoiled Child

1.   Every day is a new game of elephants vs. donkeys
2.   They do obnoxious little things just to be bratty (or “prove a point”)
3.   They draw a line on the floor and say "This side is ours; that side is yours. Don't cross the line. For any reason (especially even if it benefits the American people)!"
4.   They have no regard for deadlines (where else can you be months past a deadline in your job and it’s just okay??).
5.   They’re willing to shut down the government if they can’t get their way (effectually taking their ball and going home). Really? Just shut it down, huh? Brilliant! So about 800,000 federal employees would lose their jobs, military personnel wouldn't get paid, national parks would close, people wouldn’t get their tax refund checks...and the country just might fall apart at the seams, causing a mass exodus of epic proportions to occur, but...no big deal. As long as the budget doesn’t include community development funds and government-subsidized healthcare, or educational programs that help low-income children attend private schools. That’s obviously what’s important here.

You know, in the spirit of catering to the GOP's every whim and fancy (not his fault, his hands are tied with that damned system of checks and balances), I think next time the two sides reach an impasse, President Obama should hold a dodgeball competition to come to a resolution. The last team standing wins. End of story. Wouldn't that be great? Pretty sure the younger, more virile Dems would come out victorious. Can’t you just see Nancy Pelosi now, with her 80s day glow sweatband and shiny spandex pants, nailing Eric Cantor with a ball to the head?

I love it! Team Donkey would definitely need to keep an eye on sleepers like John McCain, though. Let’s be real - if the man can survive in a war prison camp, he can certainly survive a light game of "finish the effing budget, already" dodgeball. All in all, a good idea, I think.

If you agree with my proposal, write to your President here. I think if he gets enough feedback from the American people, he just might make that happen. Maybe we can get this passed before the final budget is approved. Now THAT’S a change we can all believe in.
